Grant applications are now open for a range of community, sporting, arts and cultural projects, with funding available through programs closing during August and September.
Community organisations, sporting clubs, schools, Aboriginal organisations and other eligible applicants across Moree Plains can apply for a range of grants closing during August and September.
Funding is available for grassroots projects, mental health initiatives, events, sport, arts and culture, community infrastructure and disaster preparedness.
Most opportunities are intended for incorporated groups, not-for-profit organisations, schools, clubs or Aboriginal organisations rather than ordinary businesses. The Regional Arts Fund also accepts applications from eligible individuals aged over 18. Applicants should read the full guidelines before starting an application.
Nutrien Community Grants
The Nutrien Community Grants Program offers grants of up to $5,000 to eligible not-for-profit or incorporated organisations in rural and regional communities.
Projects should contribute to the wellbeing and vibrancy of the local community. Applicants must obtain endorsement from a Nutrien-branded store branch manager.

NSW Women’s Week Grants
The NSW Women’s Week Grants program offers between $10,000 and $50,000 for eligible events and activities benefiting women and girls.
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations. Projects must support one of the program’s listed focus communities, including women and girls in regional, rural and remote areas.

NSW Seniors Festival grants
Eligible incorporated not-for-profit organisations and Aboriginal organisations can apply for between $2,000 and $10,000 through the NSW Seniors Festival Grant Program 2027.
The funding supports free or heavily discounted community events and activities that help older people remain active, healthy, engaged and connected during the March 2027 festival period.
Applications close at 4pm on Wednesday, August 12.

Aboriginal Languages Week grants
The NSW Aboriginal Languages Week Grant Program 2026 offers grants of between $1,000 and $6,000.
Eligible applicants include Aboriginal community-controlled not-for-profit organisations, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and unincorporated Aboriginal community groups or individuals working with an eligible auspice organisation.
Funding can support language workshops, events, materials, venue hire, catering and costs for Elders or language practitioners.

Rugby infrastructure and participation
Eligible rugby union organisations can apply through two streams of the NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Program.
The Category 1 Infrastructure stream offers between $25,000 and $150,000 for projects including playing fields, lighting, change rooms, club rooms, storage and inclusive facilities.
Eligible applicants include incorporated, not-for-profit rugby union clubs, associations and zones in NSW that meet the relevant affiliation and compliance requirements.

The Category 2 Participation stream offers between $5,000 and $50,000 for new or expanded rugby programs and competitions.
This stream is limited to incorporated, not-for-profit rugby union associations or zones affiliated with the relevant NSW or ACT and Southern NSW rugby bodies. Individual rugby clubs are not eligible for Category 2.

Regional arts projects
Regional artists, arts workers and eligible not-for-profit arts organisations can apply for up to $30,000 through the Regional Arts Fund Project Grants.
The program supports arts projects benefiting regional or remote artists, arts workers, audiences and communities. Eligible applicants include individuals aged over 18 and incorporated organisations that can provide evidence of not-for-profit status.

Community infrastructure grants
Four Clubgrants Category 3 streams offer between $50,000 and $300,000 for eligible community infrastructure projects.
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organisations responsible for operating or maintaining the infrastructure and schools that can demonstrate public access outside school hours. Individuals and organisations or businesses that may receive a commercial gain are not eligible.

Mental health and wellbeing projects
FRRR’s In a Good Place program offers grants of up to $20,000 for community-led projects supporting mental health and social and emotional wellbeing in rural communities.
Projects may reduce isolation, strengthen social connections or support the wellbeing of people in farming communities. The program gives preference to projects serving communities with fewer than 10,000 residents, although projects from larger regional centres may be considered where they support surrounding smaller communities.

Local sporting clubs
Incorporated, not-for-profit grassroots sporting clubs and associations can apply for between $2,000 and $20,000 through the Local Sport Grant Program 2026/27.
Funding can support participation programs, organisational development, sporting facilities and projects that reduce barriers for under-represented groups.
Applicants must meet the program’s incorporation and sporting affiliation requirements.

Small and Vital grants
FRRR’s Strengthening Rural Communities Small and Vital stream offers grants of up to $10,000 for practical, community-led projects in small rural, regional and remote communities.
Targeted Larger Leverage grants of up to $50,000 are also available, but these are limited to projects meeting specified priorities. Applicants should check the current guidelines to determine which funding level may apply to their project.

Disaster preparation and recovery
The Strengthening Rural Communities Prepare and Recover stream offers grants of up to $25,000 for eligible not-for-profit organisations undertaking community-led disaster preparedness or recovery projects.
Projects may address flood, drought, heat and other climate-related risks or help communities recover from earlier disasters.

Eligibility differs considerably between programs. Applicants should check requirements relating to incorporation, charitable status, project location, matched contributions, land ownership, public access, insurance and endorsement before starting an application.
Some programs are highly specialised or limited to organisations affiliated with a particular sporting body or responsible for maintaining the funded infrastructure.
