The Moree Boars’ first grade side put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday, defeating Werris Creek 62–4 in a dominant 80-minute display.
Jack Durheim said the performance was “almost our best game of footy for the year” and praised the side for playing “from kick-off to the 80th minute”.
The Boars defended strongly, held the football and turned pressure into points after working through areas of their game following a flat showing against Gunnedah. Durheim said the side “put it all together” against Werris Creek, with all 17 players close to perfect in their roles.
Cameron Rogers, playing at number nine, was among Moree’s best after getting through the full 80 minutes and making plenty of metres. Alex Barker was strong in the centres, while Bobby Adrian Smith was also praised for his work at the back.
It was a tougher day in the other grades, with Moree’s reserve grade side beaten 30–20 by Werris Creek and the ladies tackle side going down 22–12.
The first-grade result gives the Boars momentum heading into this weekend’s home clash with North Tamworth.
The match will also coincide with Old Boys Day, with reunions planned and special jerseys to feature the names of former players.
