JUNIOR cricket has been a well-loved Moree institution for generations, attracting scores of keen young batsmen and women to Ron Harborne Ovals each Saturday over summer.
All this is now in jeopardy – an absence of nominations for key positions at the recent Moree Junior Cricket Committee annual general meeting means a committee could not be formed.
Club secretary, Katie Sullivan, encourages parents and community members to attend a 5.30pm meeting on Thursday, September 5 at Moree Golf Club, with the primary goal of establishing a full committee, including the essential positions of president and treasurer.

She strongly urges the community to consider joining the committee, with even the smallest contribution ensuring the children of Moree and surrounding districts have the opportunity to play and enjoy cricket this season, and into the future.
“If we are unable to fill these positions, regrettably the cricket season will not be able to proceed,” Ms Sullivan said.
“Moree Junior Cricket is a rite of passage for so many of our children, helping them develop skills, remain fit and active, and form friendships, and it would be such a shame to lose this iconic local opportunity.
“Our community thrives when people put their hand up to contribute, and we appreciate that everyone has busy lives, however it’s more important than ever that we make time to volunteer, for the sake of our children, and Moree.”
