While the studio at 167 Balo Street has changed, Moree’s youth art programs are continuing in Term 3.
Creative Minds After School and Creating Space for Teens will run from the art studio at Social Co House, with Michael “Mick” Cayirylys continuing to facilitate the programs after the previous Jule Jarner Studio lease ended in June.
For the past term, children and teens have been drawing, painting, building, experimenting and finding their own creative rhythm through the youth art programs previously run through Jule Jarner Studio.
So when the previous lease ended, after Jules Warner moved away from Moree, there was an obvious question for families who knew the space.
Would the paint dry up?
Not quite.
Same vibe, fresh chapter
The art studio at 167 Balo Street is moving into its next chapter under the Social Co House banner.
The name behind the studio has changed, but the youth programs are continuing, and the familiar face at the front of the room is not changing either.
Mr Cayirylys, who has run the youth programs for the past term and worked alongside Jules for the past 18 months, will continue facilitating Creative Minds After School and Creating Space for Teens in Term 3.
It means Moree’s young artists can return to a familiar creative space, even as the studio changes hands.
What’s on the easel for Term 3?
Creative Minds After School is for children aged six to 12 and is about turning imagination into something tangible. The program will run on Mondays and Tuesdays during Term 3.
Through drawing, painting, craft and mixed media, children can try different techniques, explore materials and make work with their own hands.
Creating Space for Teens is for young people aged 13 to 18 and will run on Thursdays during Term 3.
The teen program offers a relaxed creative environment where young people can make art, connect with others and take part in casual creative activities after school.
Instead of letting a change in business structure bring the youth programs to an end, the studio doors are staying open and the canvas is blank.
