The atmosphere at two Taylor Oval Masterplan consultation sessions was calm and civil.  Residents spoke directly with consultants and senior Moree Plains Shire Council staff, asked questions about the draft masterplan and provided feedback.

The sessions, held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 and Saturday, July 25, 2026, were less formal than some attendees had expected. Attendees who had anticipated a public forum or question-and-answer session instead took part in informal discussions around the displayed plans.

The format allowed attendees to raise questions directly with consultants and senior Council staff, while the main focus was encouraging residents to complete the community survey. Surveys could be completed at the sessions or online, while paper copies were available to take away and return later.

Council staff and consultants repeatedly described the displayed masterplan as “an idea” and said the purpose of the consultation was to gather feedback before the design was refined.

Some attendees remained uncertain about how much influence the consultation would have, questioning whether key decisions had already been made. However, the discussions observed during the sessions remained respectful and focused on questions about the proposal.

Community Insights Consulting, which is collecting and compiling the feedback, said the sessions generated useful conversations.

“We had some great conversations with lots of people about different aspects of the Taylor Oval Masterplan,” a Community Insights Consulting spokesperson said.

“We are capturing and collating all this feedback and this will help Council to refine the process and final design.”

The consultation outcomes, along with any recommended changes to the masterplan, are scheduled to be presented to Moree Plains Shire Council at its Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

The community survey remains open until 11.59pm on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Residents can complete the survey through the Taylor Oval Masterplan project page
