POLICE have charged 10 people following a three-day high-visibility operation focused on preventing and disrupting crime in Moree.
Between Thursday, November 6 and Saturday, November 8, officers attached to New England Police District – assisted by officers attached to Operation Soteria, Western Region Operations Support Group, Youth Command and the Dog Unit – saturated Moree under Operation Soteria to target and reduce crime.
As a result of the surge operation, police arrested and charged 10 people with a combined 20 offences.
There were five more people issued with Field Court Attendance Notices for eight offences.
Police also made five drug detections, searched 11 people, conducted 15 bail compliance checks and carried out two firearm prohibition searches.
Youth Command officers also engaged with about 150 young people during community connection events.
On November 6, officers attended an address in Adelaide Street, Moree, where they arrested a 31-year-old woman on an outstanding warrant for alleged domestic violence offences.
She was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 5 on November 7.
She will appear at Moree Local Court on November 17.
Police will allege the woman threatened to kill another woman about 11am on June 1 at a home on Chester Street, Moree.
At about 8.30pm on November 6, officers attached to New England Police District were called to a home on Anne Street, Moree, following reports of a domestic violence incident.
Police will allege a 16-year-old boy punched a woman.
A short time later, police located the teenager and arrested him before he was taken to Moree Police Station.
Police further allege the 16-year-old boy pushed a woman at the same location about midday on Wednesday, November 5. The boy was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence), common assault (domestic violence) and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court, where he was granted bail and appeared at a children’s court yesterday.
On November 6, officers attended an address in Florence Street, Moree, where they arrested a 36-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant related to a charge of stalk/intimidate intend cause fear physical harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 5 on November 7.
He will appear at Moree Local Court on November 17. Police will allege at about 6am on September 6, the man approached another man outside a home on Bottlebrush Drive, Moree, while holding a claw hammer, allegedly causing the man to fear for his safety.
On November 7, officers attached to New England Police District attended a home in Cummins Avenue, Moree, where they arrested a 34-year-old woman for alleged drug supply offences.
She was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and supply prohibited drug less than small quantity (two counts).
She was granted conditional bail to appear at Moree Local Court on Monday December 15.
At about 1.10pm on November 7, officers attached to Western Region Operational Support Group were called to a home in Oak Street, Moree, to conduct a check of a Firearms Prohibition Order. Police will allege a 44-year-old man was in the company of a protected person, breaching an apprehended violence order and bail conditions.
He was taken to Moree Police Station before being taken to hospital. He was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for contravene prohibition/restriction in apprehended violence order (domestic) and appear at Moree Local Court yesterday.
