A second teenager charged over an alleged stabbing in Moree last weekend was granted conditional bail in a children’s yesterday.
Just before 1am Sunday, emergency services were called to a motel on Alice Street, Moree, following reports of an alleged stabbing.
Officers attached to New England Police District were told about five individuals allegedly forced entry into a room before they were confronted by a 52-year-old man, the motel owner, Mick Cikota.
An altercation occurred, during which the man was allegedly stabbed in the torso and arm.
Four of the group fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to a hospital in a stable condition where he remains.
Following the incident, police arrested a 13-year-old boy at the scene.
He was charged over the alleged stabbing and remains before the courts.
New England detectives – with assistance from specialist officers attached to Western Region – have since commenced Strike Force Jamesport to investigate the incident.
Following inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a second 13-year-old boy at a home in Hillvue, at about 10.50am yesterday, Tuesday, September 16, before taking him to Tamworth Police Station.
He was charged with special aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence, and face blackened-disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.
The boy was refused bail and appeared before children’s court on Tuesday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before children’s court on Thursday, November 20.
Investigations under Strike Force Jamesport continue.
