MOREE shire residents are encouraged to register now for Moree Plains Shire Council’s free, bulky waste collection drive, scheduled for September.
Moree Plains Shire Council interim director of infrastructure, Michael Malone, said the bulk collection service will operate across parts of the Moree Plains, allowing households up to three cubic metres of permitted waste to dispose of bulky items for free.
“In particular, mattresses, sofas, white goods and green waste – under 1.8m in length and under 250mm in diameter – that would otherwise incur a disposal fee, can be picked for no additional charge if booked in,” Mr Malone said.
New waste disposal fees came into effect at Moree Waste Management Facility on July 1, 2025.
Bulky waste should be clearly grouped on residential kerbsides, with general household waste, green waste, metals, whitegoods and e-waste permissible for collection.

JR Richards Moree operations manager, Mark Adams, encourages shire residents to book early for the free bulky waste kerbside collection next month.
On the weekend before collection starts, residents with a booking are encouraged to separate and stack items into four piles on the kerb for easy pick-up.

“We expect to be very busy during the bulky waste collection period across the shire, so I encourage everyone to book their spots and have their waste organised as per our requirements,” Mr Adams said.
“Only household items can be collected, and the items should be separated accordingly. It’s also recommended that bulky waste is put out on the weekend before the scheduled collection date.
“All information regarding collection dates and schedules, as well as what type of bulky waste can be collected, is available on the Moree Plains Shire Council website, or on the waste app,” he said.
