Inverell: Five charged and over $170,000 worth of drugs seized

FIVE people have been charged following an investigation into the supply of methylamphetamine in Inverell, with more than $170,000 worth of methylamphetamine seized.

In February, 2025, detectives attached to New England Police District established Strike Force Westonia, to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine in the Inverell and surrounding areas.

Following inquiries, at about 10am on Tuesday, August 5, strike force officers, with the assistance from officers attached to New England Police District, executed two search warrants simultaneously at homes on Medora and Chester Street, Inverell.

During the search of the homes, police located and seized 191g methylamphetamine, heroin, buprenorphine strips, cannabis, a gel blaster, ammunition, electronic stun device, knuckle dusters, mobile phones and cash.

The methylamphetamine seized has an estimated potential street value of $171,900.

Three women – aged 21, 24 and 54 – were arrested at the Medora Street home and taken to Inverell Police Station.

The 21-year-old woman was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, and possess prohibited drug.

The 24-year-old woman was charged with 38 offences, including supply prohibited drug (28 counts); possess prohibited drug; supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (two counts); owner-occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises (2 counts); possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm; possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority; possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (two counts); recklessly deal with proceeds of crime; and possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance.

The older woman was charged with two counts of take part supply prohibited drug, and two counts of owner-occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the Chester Street home and taken to Inverell Police Station.

He was charged with 16 counts of supply prohibited drug, and supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis.

Following further inquiries, at about 12.15pm, police attended a home on Stirling Street, Inverell, and arrested a 25-year-old man.

During a search of the man police located and seized methylamphetamine, and cash.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with five counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, possess prohibited drug, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

The two men and two younger women were refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division Court 5 on Wednesday. The older woman was given conditional bail to appear at Local Bail Division Court 5 on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
