I attended the NSW Farmers’ Annual Conference in Sydney on Tuesday which saw farmers, industry leaders and politicians come together to discuss issues facing the industry including the future of farming, artificial intelligence, feral animals and renewable energy.
It was a productive day with several motions widely supported including a first farm buyer’s scheme, legal protection around artificial intelligence and farm data, privacy, waste transfers, mobile coverage, funding for feral pig control, pest and weed control, insurance costs, and more.
Meeting with Warialda health officials
I met with representatives from Warialda health services, Hunter New England Health and council to discuss health care in the region.
Warialda Local Health Advisory chair Steve Cimarosti organised the meeting to discuss healthcare in Warialda. The MPS will soon be receiving five new Registered Nurses which is fantastic. Staffing our healthcare facilities across the region is a continuing battle which I have taken it up with the state government on numerous occasions and I will continue to do so.

Legal Aid office in Moree
Moree’s new Legal Aid office officially opened on Thursday afternoon. This means disadvantaged people in the region now have a dedicated office in town. The Legal Aid office will provide legal help and advice. NSW Attorney General Michael Daley was on-hand to unveil the new office.
It is located at Unit 3, 25 Auburn St, Moree.
Service NSW Armidale
Armidale Service Centre (Service NSW) will be temporarily closed for upgrades and relocation.
It will be closed from 5pm, July and 25 re-open on Friday, August 1.
In that time there will be a temporary centre at 169 Rusden Street from 28 July until 31 July.
Local Sport Grant Program
Applications are open for the Local Sport Grant Program 2025.
The program aims to increase regular and ongoing participation opportunities in sport across NSW through accessibility, reducing barriers, improving facilities and more.
Grants of $2000 to $20,000 are available, with up to $50,000 available in each electorate.
Eligible applicants must be incorporated not-for-profit grassroots sports clubs or associations who organise and deliver sporting activities and develop members’ skills.

What’s on
I am looking forward to the Central North Rugby clash between the Moree Bulls and the Inverell Highlanders in Moree on Saturday.
There’s plenty of sport happening this weekend with the New England Rugby Union fixtures and the final round of Group 19.
The Inverell Jockey Club is also hosting a winter race day on Saturday.
