GOONDIWINDI Regional Council has allocated more than $560,000 for distribution through various grant and donation programs, supporting events, creative projects and community initiatives in the Goondiwindi region.
A change has been made to Goondiwindi Regional Council’s Community Grants funding this financial year.
In 2024-25, the Community Grants funding program was depleted well before the end of the financial year.
Subsequently, a new system was required to ensure funds could be reasonably allocated to events and activities throughout the year.
In response, there will now be three funding rounds this financial year, closing on July 31 2025, October 31, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
Community groups across the region are encouraged to apply for funding through various programs. The available funding programs include:
Regional Arts Development Fund – three rounds;
Community Grants – up to $1500, three rounds;
Community Donations – up to $500, open all year; and
Tourism Events Grant – open all year.

Goondiwindi Regional Council mayor, Lawrence Springborg said Council has introduced new rounds for the one-off requests to the Community Grants Program, to help streamline the application process and improve merit-based assessments to support local community groups.
“Council is proud to invest in the community through a wide range of community-led initiatives,” Cr Springborg said.
“From funding the small schools’ swimming program to the NRL League program in Kindon, we encourage local community groups and committees to familiarise themselves with available grants and donations to support their next project.”
Mayor Springborg said the grants offer practical support for local projects that enhance the liveability, vibrancy, and resilience of the communities within the region.
Under the Community Grants program, local groups can apply for up to $1500 to support a wide range of local initiatives, from purchasing equipment and upgrading facilities to delivering regional events and community building activities.
The closing date for this round of grants and donations is July 31, 2025.
