MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has welcomed news $1 million will be spent across Armidale and Moree to upgrade hospitals and health facilities.
As part of the NSW Government’s Regional Health Works Program, five projects will benefit from the funding, including $250,000 to complete an upgrade to Moree Hospital’s staff accommodation.
This includes refurbishment of the building’s first floor and new ensuites for bedrooms.
Money has also been allocated to upgrade Armidale Hospital’s staff accommodation for junior medical officers as well as off-site staff accommodation at Rusden House.
A further $210,000 will be used at the Armidale Rehabilitation Service to refurbish the kitchen area which enables patients to practice everyday skills to help them return to living at home sooner.
An emergency decontamination shower room will also be upgrade at Armidale Hospital.
Mr Moylan is pleased to have money coming to the region for healthcare.
“Any money put towards healthcare is a step in the right direction,” Mr Moylan said.
“The projects will be beneficial to recruiting and retaining staff for healthcare services across the region.
“But the work isn’t done. Infrastructure is great but we need to keep working for better outcomes.
“I will continue to fight for better outcomes for healthcare across the Northern Tablelands.”
