Tamworth Memory Walk & Jog raises $6600

TAMWORTH community members turned up in force last weekend, showing their support for people impacted by dementia all while getting active to improve their brain health.

Nearly 100 people walked,  ran or jogged in the 2025 Memory Walk & Jog at Bicentennial Park to raise an impressive total of $6600.

Dementia Australia CEO Professor Tanya Buchanan extended her gratitude to all who participated, raised funds, spread the word and donated.

“There was an outstanding show of support from the Tamworth community who turned out in such large numbers for the first time in support of people impacted by dementia,” Ms Buchanan said.

“It was great to see the community supporting Dementia Australia by raising funds and awareness of dementia as well as moving for their brain health, which research shows can help reduce our risk of dementia.”

Professor Buchanan also acknowledged everyone who volunteered at the Tamworth Memory Walk & Jog.

“It is only through the hard work of our wonderful volunteers that the success of this event is possible,” she said.

The event was one of 28 Memory Walk & Jog events held across Australia in 2025.

Each event offers an opportunity for people impacted by dementia and their supporters to come together, walk or run, at any fitness level, and raise money and share stories.
