A man has been charged for allegedly being in possession of more than 500 offensive images at Inverell.
At about 2.30pm on Wednesday, February 5, officers from New England Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Inverell where electronic equipment and storage devices were seized.
Following inquiries a 65-year-old man was arrested at the same home at about 1pm the following day and taken to Inverell Police Station.
Police will allege more than 500 images consisting of both child abuse and bestiality were located on the seized devices.
The man was charged with possess child abuse material and person possesses bestiality material.
He was refused bail and appeared at Inverell Local Court on Friday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday, March 20.
Investigations are ongoing.
A Gunnedah man has been charged with murder after a baby died in hospital last month.
The four-month old boy was taken to Gunnedah Hospital on Monday, January 20 and transferred to John Hunter Hospital where he died the following day.
Detectives from Oxley Police District, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Child Abuse Squad, established Strike Force Monier to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 20-year-old man at Tamworth at about 8.45am on Friday, February 7.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with murder (domestic violence).
The man, from Gunnedah, was refused bail overnight and appeared in Parramatta Bail Court today, Saturday, February 8.
