WHITEHAVEN Coal has this month registered an outstanding achievement at its Narrabri Coal Handling and Preparation Plant, with the team recording more than 5000 days without a lost time injury.
The figure is equivalent to more than 13-and-a-half years, and bolstered by 60 months free of total recordable Injuries.
Surface operations manager, Ashley Howland, said the milestone shows the unwavering commitment to safety and care by every member of the team.
“Since we processed the first coal on July 5, 2010, our team has operated without a single lost time injury,” Mr Howland said.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to the proactive safety culture we’ve worked so hard to build. Beyond the numbers, it’s also a reflection of how we look out for each other, ensuring safety is always our top priority – both at work and at home.
“The success is the result of everyone’s diligence, vigilance, and dedication. Whether it’s the crews operating on the front lines, maintaining equipment, or supporting operations, our commitment to safety ensures that we continue to thrive without incident,” he said.
To celebrate this milestone, Whitehaven presented eskies to each member of the team.
“These eskies represent more than just a token of appreciation, they’re a reminder of our ongoing commitment to safety. It’s a way for the team to take that message home with them as they enjoy time with family and friends over summer,” Mr Howland said.
“While this is a remarkable accomplishment, we know there is always more to do when it comes to safety and we must continue to work hard to look out for each other.”
