NSW TrainLink has proposed to introduce new services as well as improve routes and timetables. You can have your say on proposed bus routes and timetables slated to be introduced in mid-2026.
The new services would include a bus service from Armidale to Port Macquarie and return on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
It would allow passengers to connect with rail services accessing Coffs Harbour, Grafton, the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast and Brisbane. The Armidale to Tenterfield and Armidale to Inverell services would see additional stops in Armidale’s CBD. An additional Tamworth to Dubbo and return service would be introduced on Wednesdays.
There would also be a new route from Tamworth to Muswellbrook and return, for a new day-return link to and from Newcastle.
Thankfully, all the current services are proposed to remain as they are.
The new ones are in addition to what’s already on offer.

NRMA mobile claims centre in Glen Innes
NRMA Insurance has sent out one of their HELP response vehicles to Glen Innes following last weekend’s hailstorms. The vehicle is a mobile claims centre so customers can talk to the claims team face-to-face, lodge an insurance claim and receive immediate help.
The HELP vehicle will be at the Glen Innes Information Centre at 152 Church Street from 10am until 4pm Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19.

Conserve, repair and protect our war memorial with funding opportunities
Grants of up to $10,000 per project are available for as part of the State Government’s Community War Memorials Fund, a program designed to help conserve, repair and protect war memorials across the state.
Local not-for-profit organisations, schools and community groups can apply for the funding to maintain and make any repairs to war memorials across the region.
Community war memorials are a timeless reminder of the sacrifices men and women have made in defending Australia throughout our history. It is important we protect and maintain those memorials.
The funding can be used to obtain specialist heritage advice, as well as restoring, repairing, maintaining, and preserving statues, honour rolls, gates and halls. It can also be used for accessibility, relocation of war memorials for safety purposes and security and safety lighting.

Applications close February 12, 2025 and the outcomes will be announced on May 31, 2025.
Service NSW mobile service centres
Service NSW are bringing their mobile service centres to Mungindi and Boggabilla in February.
The mobile service centres can help with licensing, driver knowledge tests, working with children checks, birth, death and marriage certificates, and government rebate and voucher programs.
The Mungindi Service Centre will be at Barwon River Park, 155 George Street on Wednesday, February 5 from 10am-3pm
The Boggabilla service centre will be set up at Community Health Centre, 74 Merriwa Street on Tuesday, February 4 from 12pm-3pm.
Grants
The 2025 Community Building Partnership program will open on January 28, 2025.
Grants from $10,000 to $100,000 are available for infrastructure projects which deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes, while also promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
