FOLLOWING the unexpected closure of the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre on Tuesday, January 8, due to a prohibition order issued by SafeWork NSW, Moree Plains Shire Council is working on reopening the facility during the week commencing January 20, 2025.
Please note, the gym and cafe remain open to the public.
Council has been working closely with SafeWork NSW to ensure the ongoing operation of the MAAC, despite challenges posed by aging equipment.
According to Moree Plains Shire Council, the equipment reached the end of its life before council could complete the planned redevelopment of the new plant room.
Council has announce the services of Colonial Chemical have been secured to assist with the installation of the tank fit-out, pipework, and temperature system. Council apologises for the inconvenience caused to valued patrons.
Please understand, in the interest of public safety, council must comply with the improvement notice and is doing everything possible to reopen the pools as soon as possible.
