POLICE are appealing for public assistance after an alleged attempted armed robbery in Moree in September.
On September 6 at 8.50pm, police were called to a business on Adelaide Street, Moree, following reports of an armed hold up.
Upon arrival, officers attached to New England Police District were told an unknown woman allegedly threatened a staff member with a machete – demanding money – before leaving the scene.
The 37-year-old male staff member was uninjured.
As inquiries continue, police are hoping to speak to a woman who may be able to assist with the investigation.
The woman is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, between the age of 20-40m, with a large build.
She was last seen wearing a light blue hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants, black sunglasses, white fabric/face mask covering the mouth area and a black hat.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy has been charged following an alleged break-and-enter in Moree.
At about 10.30am on Sunday, October 6, officers attached to New England Police District were called to a home on Edward Street, Moree, following reports of a break-and-enter.
Police attended and were told unknown people had allegedly forced entry into the property, before leaving with cash and personal items.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced with the scene examined by specialist officers.
Following an extensive investigation, about 12.45pm yesterday on Wednesday a 14-year-old boy attended Moree Police Station where he was arrested.
He was charged with aggravated break-and-enter etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Children’s Court on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Investigations are continuing.
