A teenager appeared in court on Wednesday and was refused bail after being charged with allegedly stealing cars and breaking into homes across the Inverell area earlier this week.
Between Sunday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 19, police received multiple reports of break-and-enters and cars thefts in Inverell and Tingha.
About 1.50pm on Tuesday, officers attached to New England Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Hospital Flat Road, Tingha.
During the search, officers located and seized multiple allegedly stolen car keys, power tools, watches and electronic devices, as well as a replica firearm.
Following the search, police arrested a 17-year-old boy before taking him to Inverell Police Station.
He was charged with:
Four counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence;
Three counts of enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence;
Two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner;
Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner;
Break and enter houses steal value less than $60,000; and
Taking a conveyance without consent of owner.
The teen was refused bail and appeared before Children’s Court yesterday, where he was further refused bail to reappear on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
A man will appear in court today, November 21, charged over an alleged break-in in which guns were stolen from a home in Coonamble.
Between October 22 and 31 October, a break-and-enter occurred at Arthur Street, Coonamble, where firearms and personal items were stolen.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District commenced an investigation into the break and enter.
Following inquiries, police attended a home on Ross Street, Coonamble, about 3:15pm yesterday – November 20 – and arrested an 18-year-old man.
Police seized a number of firearms during a search of the property.
The man was taken to Coonamble Police Station and charged with break and enter and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear before Dubbo Local Court on Thursday.
