Out and about in the electorate this week
It was great to catch up with Health Minister Ryan Park at Moree Hospital earlier this week. The Minister was on a tour of the Barwon electorate; however, he was good enough to find the time to call into the Northern Tablelands as well.
It’s a top priority for me to ensure we have better health services and facilities in our region. I’m always happy to work with the Government to achieve better health outcomes for the Northern Tablelands.
Early this week, nurses walked off the job. I continue to put my full support behind their push for fairer and more appropriate salaries particularly in line with other states and territories.
Nurses are the backbone of our health system and without them, hospitals would grind to a complete halt.
The Minister for Health Ryan Park visited Moree Hospital this week.
New mower for Glen Innes Bowlo with $17,599 boost
A brand-new ride-on mower has been freshly delivered to the Glen Innes Bowling Club, thanks to a $17,599 boost from the State Government under its latest Community Building Partnership round.
I visited The Bowlo to deliver the good news to club members, with the grant also being used towards purchasing 40 new aluminium seats for players and spectators around their two bowling greens.
The Club was without a mower for some time, as the previous one which was donated broke down.
This made for long hours and a lot of extra work from volunteers to keep the surrounding areas neat and tidy.
The new aluminium seating will replace decades old timber seating that is continually breaking due to age.
The Glen Innes Bowling Club is a popular social hub in Glen Innes, and the grant would ensure the sport of bowls and the facilities could be enjoyed for years to come.
The Club has an active membership of 70 registered bowlers as well as a growing social membership of over 900 members.
I congratulate the Bowlo on their successful grant application, the NSW Labor State Government has cut numerous regional NSW funding programs, so this is a great outcome for the Club.
Spring has spung for GLENRAC with $20,295 support
Today, I announced a $20,295 grant for GLENRAC which will be used to purchase a new tandem trailer for field work including to transport material between farms for revegetation site preparation.
I visited GLENRAC in Glen Innes this week to formally announce the funding and hear more about how the new trailer would be used.
GLENRAC has had a long history of revegetation plantings on farms across the Glen Innes district which includes creating a planting site that is weed free with good quality soil, so that seedlings have a good chance of survival.
I have no doubt the new trailer will help their efforts with planting enormously, as previously GLENRAC had to borrow equipment from Local Land Services which can often be in high demand in the spring and summer months.
The organisation is now in its 35th year and has 1800 individual members, and currently 1 revegetation project funded by the NSW Environment Trust, which will involve 18 farms in planting this summer season.
Thanks to this grant, GLENRAC will now have their own locally based equipment that participating farms can easily borrow during the months leading up to planting.
With so many funding cuts to regional grant programs under the Minns Labor Government, it is terrific news GLENRAC has secured this grant so they can continue their important work in the Glen Innes district.
GLENRAC has ordered their new trailer through a locally based supplier Smart Trailers. The delivery is expected at the end of September 2024.
Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Project Grants now open
Applications for Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Project Grants are now open, for projects and activities that foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity. Grants range between $20,000 and $50,000.

Best of luck to the Moree Bulls in the 1st and 2nd Grade Central North Rugby Grand Final tomorrow! The 1st Grade is playing Narrabri and reserves grade is playing Pirates (Tamworth).
It is terrific to see so many decorated shop fronts in anticipation of this big event. I have no doubt it will be a momentous game!
